Porsche Racing Parts

When it comes to automobiles, there’s a Porsche®, and then there’s everything else. As each vehicle is a work of advanced engineering and inventive design, no detail is overlooked in crafting a racing vehicle that is efficient, stylish, and most importantly, fast. Performance-wise, each Porsche®, old or new, has been perfectly tuned to fuse speed, power, and driving enjoyment for the ultimate experience that other sports cars have yet to match.

In terms of its capabilities off the line, there’s little else a person can do to a Porsche® that will offer any sort of performance improvement, save for a few minor tweaks. However, this is not to say that all Porsche® models are exempt from customization. Whether restoring one of the classic Porsche® vehicles, or adding your own, personal flair to a newer one, there are a number of modifications one can make to customize for that racing look and feel.

Interior:

Sitting inside a Porsche® should be nothing less than an enjoyable experience, and any Porsche® enthusiast would like to keep it that way for as long as is possible. For either replacing the wearing components of your interior, or preemptively protecting it from sun, spills, or anything else that can taint the look and comfort of your ride, there are a number of options available to ensure that the more accommodating pieces equipment in your Porsche® will provide nothing less than the utmost comfort and appearance.

Seats and Seat Covers:
Slip on an additional level of comfort and protection with Porsche® seat covers ranging from neoprene to sheepskin, or replace your seats altogether with some genuine Porsche® bucket seats, designed to simulate that racing feeling when dumping the clutch off the line. Seats and seat covers are typically easy-to-install or slip on, and with both factory and aftermarket seating options available, dumping the clutch and getting slammed into your seat has never been so enjoyable.

Floor Mats and Liners:
Aftermarket or factory Porsche® floor mats replace any existing sullied ones to help restore that trademark Porsche® appeal. Or better yet, a set of impermeable all-weather floor mats save you the hassle of constantly shampooing, vacuuming and cleaning carpeted ones. In terms of floor liners, a number of replacement options are available in different colors, styles, and materials, including popular heavy duty molded liners for that tough appearance perfect for any racer.

Miscellaneous Accessories:
Everyone knows that a Porsche® isn’t just another car, and as a result, there’s a particular panache that comes with being a Porsche® enthusiast. And what better way to get swept up in the distinction and dynamic flair of driving a Porsche® than with accessories for applying your own, unique flavor to your interior.

Try a custom steering wheel replacement and matching shift knob for a more refined look. Or for the racer in you, aluminum pedal covers, carbon fiber interior trim and custom short shifter are perfect for spicing up your ride. Choose from gauge kits, soundproof door lining, aluminum dash kits, armrests, consoles, mirrors, and so much more for tailoring a Porsche® to your tastes.

Exterior:

Aside from what’s under the hood, the unmistakable style of a Porsche® also helps to set it apart from other sports cars. For the most part, a Porsche® comes amply equipped, and every component is custom designed to provide optimum performance and luxury. However, there are a few exterior part options available that can supplement and accentuate the existing appearance so as to add a personal, distinctive appeal according to your preferences.

Wheels:
The fastest and most immediately noticeable way to upgrade the appearance of your ride is to add a set of custom wheels. With such a vast selection of chromes and alloys in a wide variety of slick designs, you’re sure to find a set that appropriately reflects your personality. From a set of eye-catching, sparkling chromes, to polished black alloys for a sportier feel, upgrading to custom wheels is a surefire way to get heads turning at the sight of your ride.

Racing Paraphernalia:
With so much attention to the style of the Porsche®, it’s easy to forget their primary purpose–racing. So why not combine the two concepts with must-have racing paraphernalia that touts the distinguished image of Porsche® enthusiasts. From magnetic race numbers and hood emblems, to roll cages and custom air intakes, a wide variety of products are available to appease any race-oriented driver.

Everything Else:
Spoiler replacements, wiper blades, engine compartment soundproofing, exterior trimmings, bumper guards, replacement door handles, and so many more products to dress up or restore your Porsche® are readily available in either factory or aftermarket configurations. You can find everything you need to fix up that classic ride, or just add a little extra spark to that brand new one, with some aftermarket parts available for a fraction of the cost of factory parts.

Car Care and Upkeep:

Particularly with summer right around the corner, consistent car care and upkeep is an important factor in maintaining a Porsche®’s sumptuous appearance and lasting comfort. While a summertime wash is what immediately comes to mind when the sun begins the season of its prime, a simple wash could always be taken a step further to help extend the life of your vehicle’s appearance in the long run, or restore its former flash. Part and material-specific products are available that will both clean and protect the appearance of your vehicle, including tires, wheels, leather upholstery, windows, the engine compartment, and much more.

Porsche 936C race car image

Some cool Porsche images:

Porsche 936C

Porsche 936/77-001, Le Mans winner 1977.

The Porsche 936 was a racing car introduced in 1976 by Porsche as a delayed successor to the Porsche 908, a three litre sportscar prototype which was retired by the factory after 1971. Its name came from using a variant of the Porsche 930’s turbocharged engine, as well as competing in Group 6 racing.

It was built to compete in the World Sportscar Championship as well as at 1976 24 Hours of Le Mans under the Group 6 formula, which it won both of. Chassis 002 with #20 won with Jacky Ickx and Gijs van Lennep won Le Mans, while the #18 chassis 001 of Reinhold Joest and Jürgen Barth had engine failure. It shared these victories with its production-based sibling, the Porsche 935 which won in Group 5. The open top, two seater spyder was powered by an air-cooled, two-valve 540 hp (403 kW) single-turbocharger flat-6 engine with 2140 cc, or the equivalent of 3000 cc including the 1.4 handicap factor. The spaceframe chassis was based on the 917, with many of the parts also coming from the car. In the first outings, the Martini Racing car was still black[1], and the engine cover behind the roll bar was flat. The large hump and the air box above the engine was fitted onto the car later in the season. It is not for the air intake of the turbocharged engine, nor for cooling of the air-cooled engine itself, but instead mainly used for the intercooler.

From 1976 to 1981, the factory entered Porsche 936 won the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times with Jacky Ickx (’76, ’77, ’81), thus each of the three original chassis won once. In 1978, the two previously winning chassis, which had been updated for 1977, came second and third behind the Renault, while the pole-setting new chassis 003 crashed out. Porsche did not intend to sell the 936 to customers, wanting them instead to use the 935 (which occupied the first four places at Le Mans in 1979), and the old 908 which were still around, updated to turbo engines and new 936-like aerodynamics. In 1979, a half-hearted Essex-sponsored Le Mans entry with two 936 was a failure, and the car also crashed[2] at Silverstone. Porsche engineers provided some unofficial support to very good customers, though, and Joest managed to get a spare chassis (004) and parts to assemble a car which was in 1980 designated as Porsche 908/80 and entered privately by Joest Racing. The Martini Racing Liqui Moly backed car took second at Le Mans in 1980. Kremer received blueprints to recreate a modified ’81-spec car dubbed chassis 005 for 1982.

My new vehicle! The 2012 VW Beetle Turbo in Platinum Grey Metallic.

Check out my VW Beetle set. There are some ‘better’ photos in it.

* 2.0L, 200 hp TSI engine, 6-speed DSG automatic transmission with Tiptronic and Sport Mode.
* 18″ Twister alloy wheels
* Cross Differential System
* Bluetooth integration

My Dad had 2 Beetles: 1 from the late 60s, and one from the early 70s. He loved them. Thought I’d join the VW party.

I’m rather tall (6’5″), and I had to move the seat up. This is the only car I’ve been in where I had to do that so I could reach the pedals.

I’ve never had a vehicle with turbo before. When in « sport mode », this thing flies off the line. When in « regular mode », the turbo seems to kick in when the RPMs are pretty high (don’t have an exact number to offer yet).

Anyways, this thing is fun, fast, practical, sexy, and gets great gas mileage. I hope she’ll last me many years.

Porsche Cayman
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Porsche Cayman is a mid-engined, rear wheel drive 2-seat sports car produced by Porsche AG of Germany. First launched in the 2006 model year , the Cayman is a coupé derived from Porsche’s second generation Boxster convertible. Like the Boxster, the Cayman is assembled in Finland for Porsche by Valmet Automotive.

Performance

The performance of the Cayman S approaches that of Porsche’s flagship sports car, the 911 Carrera. Rally legend Walter Röhrl lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife track in a Cayman S equipped with optional 19″ wheels, PCCB, and PASM[7] in a time of 8 minutes, 11 seconds.[8] [9] The time for a standard Cayman S, as published by the manufacturer, was 8 minutes, 20 seconds.[10] In contrast, Röhrl recorded 8 minutes, 15 seconds in a 911 Carrera.[11] [12] The similarity in performance between the two cars has led to speculation about whether the Cayman S will cannibalize sales of the Carrera, as the basic Carrera’s recommended retail price in the United States is ,400 higher than that of the Cayman S.

Side view of the Porsche Cayman S

A Cayman prepared and run by privateers Jürgen and Uwe Alzen finished fourth overall (of 220 entrants) in the 2007 Nürburgring 24 Hour race, ahead of two flagship Porsche 997 GT3 RSR’s, a 997 GT3 Cup, and a 996 GT3 Cup.[13] Another two privateer Caymans, entered by CSR and MSpeed, finished 22nd and 117th overall, respectively. Porsche disclaims support for the Cayman teams, while supporting some or all of the 997 teams.[14]

A sports car feature which is not offered by Porsche for the Cayman is limited slip differential (LSD). Some commentators have speculated that LSD is not offered, even as an option, because the Cayman S’s performance would then be too close to that of the 911 Carrera. Several tuning companies offer Cayman buyers the ability to retrofit an LSD.
