In 2011 rules call for much smaller engines than before. Audi decided upon a 3.7 liter V6 TDI engine to power the R18, continuing to place its faith in diesel power, with which it was successful for the first time back in 2006.

The 2011 unveiling of the Aston Martin V12 Zagato at the Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance saw another chapter written in the historic partnership between Aston Martin and the Italian coachbuilder. Just a fortnight later two examples of the V12 Zagato took to the track to compete in the Nürburgring 24hr race, both finishing the endurance epic to continue Aston Martin’s 100% record in the gruelling event. August 2011 then saw the announcement that the V12 Zagato would enter a strictly limited production run – with customer deliveries taking place later this year the V12 Zagato is destined to become one of the most exclusive and desirable Aston Martins ever produced.
