The first successful replacement of the air cooled Volkswagen Beetle was front wheel drive. Golf is Volkswagen’s best selling model. It is also world’s third best selling model. As it was the third best selling model the company manufactured 25 million of it by 2007.VW Golf Gti is mostly produced by 3 door hatchback style. Some other variants of it include 5 door hatches back.

These kinds were produced in 1993. The Golf is named from a German word for Gulf Stream.

Volkswagen presented the first generation Golf as front wheel drive, long range replacement for the Volkswagen Beetle in 1974.
